The Islamic University of Technology Debating Society (IUTDS) successfully hosted its annual flagship debate competition, IUT Inter-Club 2025, from 1 to 3 August. The event brought together 36 teams and 72 debaters from prestigious institutions including Dhanmondi Government Boys High School, Dhaka Residential Model College, Notre Dame College, North South University, Bangladesh University of Professionals, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

The tournament began with an inauguration ceremony at the IUT auditorium. The group stage consisted of five rounds over two days, followed by semi-finals on August 2 and the final on August 3 at The Westin Dhaka’s Level 1 Ballroom. H.E. Mr Yousef S.Y. Ramadan, Ambassador of the State of Palestine, attended as chief guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Hissein Araby Nour, Registrar Mwebesa Umar, and IUTDS moderator ARM Harunur Rashid were also present.

In the Open category, IUT TS team, comprising Tamim Ahmed and Sahib Rahman Khan, won the championship, with NSU SC as runners-up. The Novice category saw FBDA TF, featuring Abrar Faiyaz and Tajbiul Ahsan, crowned champions, while EWUDC ZG’s Gazi Umid and Zafir Anam took second place.

The adjudication panel included prominent debaters such as Asif Mehedi Adi and Tanzim Noor Tanmoy. Fatima Ahmad and Alif Hossain led the Equity team, with Tanzil Ahmed and Mubtasim Munir overseeing tabulation.

The tournament was sponsored by Chuti Resort Cox’s Bazar as Title Sponsor, with support from IECC Bangladesh, ShopUp, and Online Tech Academy. Cultural Partner RYZE Live, Gift Partners Unilever and Banglalink Digital, Ice Cream Partner Savoy Ice Cream Bangladesh, and Dream Weaver for photography completed the robust support network.
