UIU APP Forum and DCCSA honour award-winning teams at “Meet the Champions”

United International University (UIU) celebrated its globally acclaimed student teams on 9 August 2025 with a vibrant event titled “Meet the Champions,” organised by the UIU APP Forum and supported by the Directorate of Career Counselling and Student Affairs (DCCSA).
The programme brought together students, faculty, alumni, and invited guests, including students from various colleges, who were deeply amazed and inspired by the achievements of the teams, to recognise accomplishments that have placed Bangladesh prominently on the world stage.
The UIU Mars Rover Team entered 2025 with history-making determination, securing 6th place globally at the University Rover Challenge and retaining the title of Best Asian Team for the second consecutive year. They excelled in the Science Mission with a perfect 100/100, earning the Best Scientist Award under the leadership of Mentor Md Abid Hossain and Captain Md Mosfiqur Rahman, who guided the team from the bustling UIU robotics lab to the challenging Mars-like terrain of Utah.

Meanwhile, UIU ASCEND (CanSat) reached new heights, achieving 7th globally, 1st in Bangladesh, and 2nd in Asia, demonstrating that even a soda can–sized satellite can carry a nation’s pride. Led by Abdullah Al Saad with support from Advisor Dr. M. Rezwan Khan and Mentor Dr. Sadid Muneer, the team turned miniature engineering into a display of perseverance and ingenuity.
Diving into uncharted waters, UIU MARINER made history at the MATE ROV World Championship 2025, finishing 5th globally, 1st in Asia, and winning the title of World Champions in Technical Documentation. Under Captain Anika Tabassum Orchi, with guidance from Chief Advisor Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Director and Lead Mentor Dr. A.K.M. Muzahidul Islam, and mentors Mr. Fahim Hafiz and Mr. Shekh Md. Saifur Rahman, they became the first Bangladeshi team to reach the finals, setting a bold path for the nation’s underwater robotics future.
A special highlight of the event was the live showcase of the Mars Rover, CanSat satellite, and Marine ROV, which drew enthusiastic interest from guests eager to understand the technology behind these achievements.
Guest speaker Ariful Hasan Opu, president of Space Innovation Camp and adviser to NASA Space Apps Challenge Bangladesh, delivered an inspiring address urging students to pursue their passions with persistence, emphasizing that true innovation comes from those willing to challenge limits. The mentors of all three teams shared stories of early struggles, resource challenges, and relentless dedication, underlining that these victories were the result of not only technical skill but also resilience and teamwork.
The event concluded with a message of hope: these achievements are not only a triumph for UIU but also a source of pride for Bangladesh. Students were encouraged to follow their interests with commitment, as each success contributes to shaping a brighter future for the nation.
