Rucsu polls: Postponed nomination paper distribution to begin 24 August

The distribution of nomination papers for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (Rucsu) election, which was postponed earlier, will now begin on 24 August.
Rucsu Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md Amzad Hossain made the announcement today (20 August), stating, “Nomination forms will be distributed on 24, 25, and 26 August.
“The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the election commission this afternoon at the office of the Rucsu treasurer.”
According to the new schedule, nomination papers must be submitted on 27 and 28 August. Scrutiny will take place on 31 August and 1 September, the preliminary candidate list will be published on 2 September, and withdrawals will be accepted on 3 September.
The final list of candidates will be announced on 4 September. Polling is scheduled for 15 September.
The university administration had earlier announced the election schedule on 28 July, setting 15 September as the voting day for Rucsu, hall unions, and the senate student representatives.
Initially, nomination forms were supposed to be distributed today, but the commission postponed it late last night through a notice on the university’s official Facebook page, citing “unavoidable reasons.”
For the elections, nomination fees have been fixed at Tk500 for Rucsu and senate representatives, and Tk400 for hall union elections.
Meanwhile, the final voter list was also published yesterday, with 24,892 students eligible to vote — including 9,741 female and 15,151 male students.
