The UGC PhD Scholarship offers a monthly allowance of Tk. 40,000 for a maximum of 36 months from the date of joining. A total of 75 scholarships are available for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant Categories: The scholarship is open to teachers from Public Universities, Private Universities, Government Colleges, MPO Colleges, and meritorious students.
- Applicant Status: Applicants must be a full-time researcher.
- Enrolment: All candidates must already be enrolled in a full-time PhD programme at a public university in Bangladesh to be considered eligible for the fellowship.
Application Process
- Required Documents:
- A completed hard copy of the application form.
- A synopsis of the research proposal. The synopsis must highlight:
- The appropriateness of the topic.
- Clarity and importance of objectives.
- Research methodology.
- Contribution to national interest.
- Justification for the research.
- Submission: The application form and necessary documents must be submitted to the designated office at the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The application must be submitted through the proper channel, which generally means via the applicant’s institution.
- Interview: Following the preliminary selection, candidates may be asked to attend a presentation or interview before a committee.
- Application Form: The prescribed application form and guidelines can be downloaded from the UGC website under the service box titled “Scholarship and Fellowship”.
Application Deadline
The deadline for submitting the complete application is 15 October 2025.
