Dhaka University (DU) has been ranked first in South Asia and 52nd globally in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Ranking, according to a press release issued by the university’s Public Relations Office yesterday (20 November).

This year, 12 public and private universities from Bangladesh made it to the league table. The UK-based education magazine published its 2026 rankings, featuring 911 universities from 94 countries.

The Interdisciplinary Science Ranking evaluates universities on their ability to conduct multidimensional and cross-disciplinary research. Institutions are assessed across three broad areas: funding and research investment, measures of success and support systems, and publications, research quality, impact, and reputation.

Final rankings are determined using 11 performance indicators spanning these categories.
