RUET to host national gis festival ‘Geoplan 1.0’ on 6 December
The country’s geospatial community is set to gather at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on 6 December 2025 for GeoPlan 1.0, a nationally recognised GIS festival endorsed by Esri and organised by the RUET GIS Club.
The event will bring together more than 350 students, researchers, and industry professionals from institutions across Bangladesh, establishing itself as one of the most comprehensive platforms for advancing geospatial learning and innovation.
The day-long festival will feature keynote sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive discussions focusing on the role of spatial intelligence in smart planning, sustainability, and technology-driven development.
As media partners, The Business Standard and TBS Graduate are spotlighting the initiative, highlighting the RUET GIS Club’s growing contribution to developing skilled, future-ready geospatial talent in Bangladesh.
GeoPlan 1.0 will include five national competitions—Mapathon, GeoArena, Poster and Photography, Documentary Contest, and the flagship GIS Excellence Challenge—designed to showcase analytical ability, creativity, and technical competence. All participants will receive official certificates and event souvenirs, while winners will be awarded prize money totalling Tk50,000.
With national endorsement, multidisciplinary participation, and strong academic–industry collaboration, the RUET GIS Club’s GeoPlan 1.0 marks a significant step in strengthening Bangladesh’s geospatial capacity and innovation ecosystem.
