Students For Liberty Bangladesh (SFL Bangladesh) organised a Human Respect Training and City Meetup in Dhaka on 16 January 2026, bringing together students from leading universities to engage in discussions on liberty, dignity and voluntary cooperation.

The training was held as part of SFL Bangladesh’s ongoing educational initiatives in collaboration with The Foundation for Harmony and Prosperity, a non-profit organisation working to promote the principle of human respect through dialogue, learning and ethical, non-coercive approaches to social challenges.

Students from the University of Dhaka and Jahangirnagar University participated in the session. The programme provided a platform for participants to explore how societies can progress when human dignity, personal choice and voluntary problem-solving are prioritised.

The session focused on the principle of human respect, highlighting the transition from coercion to cooperation, the importance of persuasion over force and the role of individual agency in building peaceful and prosperous communities. Through interactive discussions, participants examined real-world social challenges and ethical responses grounded in mutual respect.

Effat Jahan Efa, regional coordinator of Students For Liberty Bangladesh, facilitated the session. She said that respecting human agency and encouraging voluntary solutions are essential for sustainable social progress.

“When individuals are treated with dignity and allowed to make choices freely, communities become stronger and more resilient,” she said during the session.

Aoyon Sharin, local coordinator of Students For Liberty Bangladesh, said that the training helped participants understand the relevance of human respect and freedom of choice in everyday life. He added that the discussions encouraged students to reflect on leadership, responsibility and community-level change through cooperation.

Students For Liberty was founded in 2008 as an international student-led organisation promoting individual rights, free markets and a non-violent social order. Its South Asia network includes Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the Maldives.

Students For Liberty Bangladesh continues to organise educational programmes, leadership trainings and dialogue-based initiatives aimed at empowering young people to promote ethical leadership, liberty and human respect across communities.
