Five Chittagong University students win Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
Five students from the Department of Banking and Insurance of the University of Chittagong received the prestigious Gold Award at the 10th Gold Award Ceremony organised by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, Bangladesh.
The ceremony was held on the evening of 19 January, 2026, at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in Dhaka, where a total of 232 Gold Award recipients were honoured.
The awards were presented by British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke at her residence. The award recipients from the University of Chittagong were Asma Binte Rashid, Nowshin Arafa Bhabna, Karin Saffana, Eusha Jaman Turzo, and Mabsurah Morshed Mahera.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation is a UK-based initiative supported by the British Royal Family. The programme aims to encourage young people by recognising their skills, perseverance and personal development through a structured framework of voluntary service, skill-building, physical recreation and adventurous journeys.
Each year, the foundation honours young participants who demonstrate exceptional commitment, leadership and resilience, enabling them to develop confidence and contribute positively to their communities.
