Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) recently hosted “Crown Micro Presents: Green Horizon 2026”, a day-long event focused on environmental awareness, sustainable development and renewable energy.
The programme was organised by the university’s debating club, AUST Debating Club (AUSTDC), and turned the campus into a hub for discussion on ecological innovation and policy.
Crown Micro joined as the title sponsor, while Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol) was the co-sponsor.
The event was attended by the vice-chancellor of AUST, alongside guests including Fahim Mahmud, country director of Crown Micro, and Syed Naeem Abdullah, divisional director of Rancon Infrastructures and Engineering Limited.
A key segment of the programme was the national policy case competition, “Resonance”. Team “11.59 Squad” emerged champion, while “Team 13926” and “Team Sudden Impact” secured first and second runner-up positions respectively. Participants were recognised for presenting practical and impactful proposals for sustainable growth.
The programme also featured an inter-department debate, with eight university departments competing. Team “Circuit Breaker” from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) won, while “Mecha Mandate” from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) finished runner-up.
A public speaking competition was also held, where students delivered speeches on contemporary environmental issues.
Organisers said the event reflected strong youth enthusiasm for renewable energy and environmental preservation, adding that AUSTDC aimed to bridge debate with real-world policy outcomes through a practical, solution-oriented convention.
