Govt orders closure of all universities from March 9
All public and private universities across the country will remain closed from tomorrow (March 9) as part of government measures aimed at reducing electricity and fuel consumption.
The decision was issued by the Ministry of Education following instructions from the Cabinet Division. Authorities have been directed to ensure that all universities implement the closure.
According to the directive, universities will stay closed from March 9 until the beginning of their scheduled Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, as outlined in their respective academic calendars.
The ministry also advised institutions to adopt energy-saving measures, such as minimising the use of electric lights during daytime, switching off unnecessary electrical equipment, maintaining air-conditioner temperatures at 25°C or higher, and limiting the use of vehicles to conserve fuel.
