To uphold the spirit of independence and pay deep tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War, the university organised a series of programmes over two days.

On Wednesday (25 March), a symbolic blackout was observed on campus from 10:30pm to 10:31pm in remembrance of the horrific night of 1971. Through this initiative, the memory of that tragic night was revisited and respect was paid to the sacrifices of the martyrs.

Yesterday, 26 March, the official programme began at 8:00am on the BRAC University campus with the rendition of the national anthem and the hoisting of the national flag. Teachers, students and staff from various departments participated in the ceremony.

Among those present were the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar; Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Arshad Mahmood Chowdhury; Registrar Dr David Dowland; Dean of BRAC Business School Professor Mohammad Mujibul Haque; Dean of the School of General Education Professor Samia Haque; Director of Communications Khairul Bashar; and Joint Director of Student Life Mohsina Rahman, along with faculty members, students and officials from different departments.

Later, a university delegation visited the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar and laid wreaths in honour of the martyrs of the Liberation War. They paid solemn tribute to the supreme sacrifices made during the war.
