Ulab independence day

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh observed Independence Day on Monday (30 March) with a discussion meeting at the Chancellery Lobby, bringing together students, faculty and staff to honour the nation’s history and celebrate the spirit of freedom.

The programme opened with the national anthem followed by a moment of silence in tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War. The session included reflections on Bangladesh’s journey to independence, highlighting the sacrifices and resilience that shaped the nation.

Freedom fighter Didar A Husain delivered the keynote speech, sharing personal insights on the Liberation War and its enduring lessons. He encouraged the younger generation to uphold the values of courage, dedication and unity demonstrated by the freedom fighters.

Vice-Chancellor Shamsad Mortuza welcomed attendees and emphasised the role of education and collective responsibility in building a future aligned with the ideals of independence.

The event also featured cultural performances by ULAB Sanskriti Sangsad and recitations of 1971 letters by the ULAB 1971 History Club, creating a strong connection to the nation’s historic struggle.

The programme combined discussion, reflection and cultural tribute, offering the ULAB community a meaningful way to observe Independence Day and reaffirm their commitment to the values of freedom and patriotism.
