Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was named Hobart Hurricanes Big Bash League (BBL) player of the year after a standout debut season in the tournament.

Rishad played an important role to help Hobart Hurricanes’ a strong finish in BBL 15 in what was his maiden season in the tournament. He was drafted to play for Hobart Hurricanes in BBL 14 too but was unable to
play due to his BPL commitment at home. However, he amended the absence with 15 wickets in the tournament and offered a control which Hobart badly needed.

The Bangladesh leg-spinner edged out strong competition from teammates Nikhil Chaudhary, Nathan Ellis and Chris Jordan to lift the title. Rishad led all Hurricanes players in the wicket-taking column and was often
used early, straight out of the Powerplay, playing a key role for the team. He had best figures of 3-26 against the Adelaide Strikers.

Rishad is currently playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after which he will gear for Bangladesh national team’s home series against New Zealand.
