Peace Café at University of Dhaka hosted a dialogue session titled “Youth Action in Climate Resilience” on 12 April at the RC Majumder Auditorium, bringing together students, development professionals, and climate advocates to explore youth-driven responses to environmental challenges.

Organised in collaboration with UN Women and Catch Bangladesh, the event was held under the second phase of the “EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies Programme.” The session engaged thirty selected students in direct discussions with a panel of experts, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and grassroots climate action.

The panel featured Dilruba Haider of UN Women, development specialist Dr Kazi Maruful Islam, and Shamim Ara Sheuly of the Earth Journalism Network. Their perspectives highlighted the intersection of policy, media, and development in addressing climate challenges.

Adding a ground-level perspective, Jannatul Mouwa, Executive Director of BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan, shared experiences from climate-vulnerable regions such as Satkhira, offering insights into the lived realities of communities facing environmental stress. Her reflections underscored the urgency of linking policy frameworks with local adaptation strategies.

The discussion created a space where academic insights, humanitarian experience, and activist perspectives converged, providing participants with a broader understanding of climate resilience and the role of inclusive, community-driven approaches.

The session concluded with a renewed emphasis on the importance of youth engagement in climate adaptation, highlighting students not only as learners but as active contributors to building resilient societies.
