Toni Kroos receives Laureus sporting inspiration award after glittering career

Toni Kroos has been honoured with the Laureus Sporting Inspiration Award, recognising a career marked by remarkable consistency, major honours and lasting influence at the highest level of football.

The former Germany international and Real Madrid midfielder spent a decade at the Santiago Bernabéu after joining in 2014, establishing himself as one of the key figures in the club’s modern European success.

During his time in Madrid, Kroos made 465 appearances and secured 23 trophies. These included five UEFA Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, four Spanish Super Cups, five Club World Cups and four UEFA Super Cups.

He is also among a select group of players to have won six European Cups, having lifted one with Bayern Munich before adding five more with Real Madrid.

At international level, Kroos played a pivotal role in Germany’s triumph at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Across his international career, he earned 114 caps, scoring 17 goals and providing 21 assists.

Individually, Kroos was named in the FIFA FIFPRO World XI in 2014, 2016 and 2017. He was also recognised as the IFFHS Best Playmaker in 2014 and earlier won the Golden Ball at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
