Associate Professor Mizanur Rahman of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning has received the Abu Zafar Shamsuddin and Ayesha Akhtar Khatun Memorial Trust Special Honor Award for producing the highest number of research publications in 2025 among faculty members of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The award was determined based on updated research records available on the university’s official website. At a ceremony organised by the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences, he was presented with a commemorative crest and a cheque. The event was chaired by Acting Dean Professor Dr Md. Shamsul Alam.

Professor Dara Shamsuddin, a retired faculty member and founder of the Trust, stated that the award has been presented annually since 2001. It alternates between the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities to encourage research productivity.

He added that the selection process is based on the quantitative count of publications recorded on the university website as of 31 December each year. Faculty members from various Social Sciences disciplines were present at the programme.
