Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said that Bangladesh will take lessons from countries that are performing well as part of its efforts to modernise the education sector.
He made the remarks at an event organised by the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh at a hotel in Dhaka yesterday (5 May).
Milon added that the government would move quickly to build a complete framework and ensure all necessary arrangements for properly managing the education system within 180 days.
He further said, “I have worked with doctors—I have experience of completing tasks within a maximum of 72 hours in the market. I am also working with my secretary, where following the ’72-hour rules of business’ is essential.”
“The University Grants Commission is new—like a newborn; therefore, it is not appropriate to ask too many questions of an institution that is only 29 days old.”
During the event, proposals were also made to make the University Grants Commission more effective and supportive by introducing faster approvals, transparent KPIs, and a ranking system.
