The second convocation of Bangladesh University of Textiles (Butex) will be held on 28 March 2027, according to a notice signed by Registrar Prof Dr Rasheda Begum Dina on Wednesday (21 October).

Earlier, a letter signed on 17 October by Md Sultan Ahmed, assistant secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the President and Chancellor of the university had consented to preside over the ceremony.

The letter asked the relevant authorities to take necessary steps to finalise the schedule, programme and other formalities.

Graduates from Butex’s 45th to 47th batches will be eligible to attend. Students from the second to fourth batches of the affiliated National Textile Engineering College (NTEC) and Tangail Textile Engineering College (TTEC) will also be eligible, along with students from the sixth to ninth batches of other affiliated colleges.

Students and researchers who meet the prescribed criteria and completed BSc, MSc or MBA programmes, with results published after 12 February 2024, will also be eligible to participate.

Registration for the convocation began on 27 September and will continue until 10 November.

Butex Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Julhas Uddin said the university hoped to organise the ceremony in a festive, orderly and pleasant environment.

He added that the registration deadline had been extended until 10 November to give all eligible graduates an opportunity to attend the occasion.

Butex held its first convocation on 27 December last year at its central playground, with more than 4,000 graduates attending.
