International Standard University hosted a research recognition ceremony at its media lab on Thursday (7 May) to honour academic excellence and research contributions.

Professor Dr Md Hakikur Rahman, head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was recognised for his longstanding contributions to research and knowledge-based education.

The programme, organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was chaired by International Standard University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan.

Professor Dr Harikumar Pallathadka, chancellor of Manipur International University, India, attended the event as the chief guest and presented a PhD recognition award to Dr Hakikur Rahman.

Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor said International Standard University continues to place importance on research, innovation and academic excellence.

He also stressed the role of research-driven education in advancing national development and global competitiveness.

Professor Dr Harikumar Pallathadka said research strengthens the global reputation of universities and noted that the academic contributions of Dr Hakikur Rahman have earned international recognition.

Receiving the honour, Dr Hakikur Rahman said research should serve society and humanity through the practical application of knowledge.

The event was attended by deans, department heads, faculty members, students and university officials.

Professor Dr Monjur Morshed Mahmud, Professor Md Abul Kashem, Professor Dr Mohammad Ekramul Hoque, Professor Mohammad Ali and Registrar Md Faizullah Kawshik were also present.
