JMUN’26 ends on high note with diplomacy, debate and youth leadership
The 8th edition of the Jahangirnagar Model United Nations Conference (JMUN’26), organized by the Jahangirnagar University Model United Nations Association (JUMUNA), concluded successfully today at Jahangirnagar University Campus in Savar, Dhaka. After days of intense diplomacy, rigorous debate, and fruitful negotiations, the conference has once again reinforced its position as one of the leading Model UN platforms in the region.

The 8th edition of the Jahangirnagar Model United Nations Conference (JMUN’26), organized by the Jahangirnagar University Model United Nations Association (JUMUNA), concluded successfully today at Jahangirnagar University Campus in Savar, Dhaka. After days of intense diplomacy, rigorous debate, and fruitful negotiations, the conference has once again reinforced its position as one of the leading Model UN platforms in the region.
Building on the strong foundation laid during the opening ceremony and previous editions, JMUN’26 brought together a diverse cohort of 348 passionate delegates from across the country and beyond. Over the course of the conference, delegates engaged in nine dynamic committees, addressing critical global issues through research, collaboration, and the spirit of multilateralism.
The closing ceremony celebrated the outstanding performances of the delegates, with awards presented for Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Honorable Mention, and other categories across various committees. The atmosphere was filled with pride, reflection, and inspiration as participants shared their experiences and the valuable lessons learned.
At first, with the assistance of the plenary president, SK Amlan Ahmed Prachujjo, former secretary general of JMUN’23, the executive board members of the committees gave necessary feedback and comments on the 3 days of the conference.
Mr.Aminul Haque, the state minister of the Ministry of Youth & Sports, graced the closing session as the chief guest. He spoke about how youth can contribute to the future of Bangladesh and how the Model United Nations can help them in this regard, enriching their geopolitical knowledge. He emphasized the training for women and children and creating a drug-free society.
Then he announced the night’s most awaited section, the declaration of the new committee of JUMUNA with Rayhanul Hasan Sifat as the president and Sadat Noor as the General Secretary.
Advisors to JUMUNA, Professor Dr. Abdullah Hel Kafi, expressed his satisfaction with the conference outcomes. He praised the dedication of everyone, especially the delegates, and wished them success.
Syed Alamgir, advisor to the BNP chairperson, delivered an exceptional speech describing the importance of the Model United Nations.
Md. Riyajul Karim, Founder and President of the Council of Trustees, JUMUNA, highlighted the broader significance of the event. He also addressed the recent issues of delegation regarding the NSU MUN Club.
Fahmida Sultana Tamanna, Secretary General of JMUN’26 and the very first female Secretary General of JUMUNA’s history, delivered an emotional closing address. She talked about behind the scenes, countless sacrifices and struggles, and said her gratitude towards the Secretariat board.
The Closing Ceremony President and other members of the Secretariat reflected on the enriching journey, noting the high quality of debate, innovative solutions proposed, and the strong sense of camaraderie developed during committee sessions and social events.
JMUN’26 has concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. The conference not only provided a platform for intellectual growth and diplomatic training but also created lasting friendships and networks among the delegates.
As JUMUNA looks ahead, the success of JMUN’26 reaffirms its unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development, and the promotion of global citizenship through the powerful tool of Model United Nations.
