The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan is inviting applications for the prestigious Taiwan Fellowship Programme. This initiative is designed to support foreign experts and researchers in conducting advanced research within Taiwan, aiming to foster international scholarly exchange across various disciplines.

The programme focuses on areas such as Taiwan, cross-strait relations, and Asia-Pacific studies. This fully-funded opportunity is available to international scholars who possess the necessary academic standing.

Programme Overview

The fellowship provides researchers with access to academic resources, research facilities, and opportunities to engage with prominent Taiwanese scholars.

  • The duration of the fellowship ranges from three to twelve months, contingent upon the submitted research proposal.

  • Monthly research grant: You will receive NT$60,000 for professors, research fellows, or equivalent positions, and NT$50,000 for doctoral candidates and assistant researchers.

Eligibility and Research Areas

The programme welcomes applications from professors, associate/assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, and experts in relevant academic fields.

  • Eligible research areas include, but are not limited to, Taiwan Studies, Cross-Strait Relations, Asia-Pacific Studies, Sinology, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Law, and Public Policy.
  • Please note that individuals currently enrolled in degree studies in Taiwan, those already receiving funding from other Taiwanese government agencies, or holders of Taiwanese nationality are ineligible.

Application Procedure

Interested applicants must submit their proposals through the official Taiwan Fellowship online application system.

  • Required documentation includes a research proposal, curriculum vitae, publication list, and relevant recommendation letters.
  • A signed hard copy of the application and supporting materials must be submitted to the nearest Taipei Mission.

The deadline for application submission is 30 June 2026.
