Universal College Bangladesh celebrates 178 graduates at annual convocation
Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD), the exclusive partner of Monash College in Bangladesh, celebrated the achievements of 178 graduates at its annual graduation convocation held at Le Méridien Dhaka on 7 July.
The ceremony recognised students who successfully completed the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) and Monash College Diploma (MCD) programmes, marking an important milestone in their academic journeys.
Acting Australian High Commissioner Nicholas McLean attended the event as the chief guest. Congratulating the graduates, he said education has become one of the key drivers of trade growth between Australia and Bangladesh, with higher education and vocational skills development playing an increasingly important role in strengthening bilateral ties. He also reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to supporting international students and ensuring continued access to quality education.
Tanya Perera, executive director of Pathways Partnerships at Monash College, Australia, attended the ceremony as the guest of honour. She praised the graduates for their dedication and perseverance, saying the milestone reflected their academic readiness and ability to succeed in an international learning environment.
As the exclusive partner of Monash College in Bangladesh, UCBD offers internationally recognised pathway programmes that enable students to begin their Australian higher education journey in Bangladesh before progressing to Monash University and other leading universities worldwide.
The Monash University Foundation Year programme provides a direct pathway to undergraduate study, while the Monash College Diploma is academically equivalent to the first year of selected bachelor’s degree programmes, allowing eligible students to enter directly into the second year of their studies.
Speaking at the event, STS Group Chief Executive Officer Manas Singh said UCBD graduates have continued to transition successfully to Australian universities despite evolving global regulations and stricter visa policies. He noted that the achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to maintaining international academic standards and preparing students for higher education abroad.
