The GAU Language and Personal Development Club (GAU LPDC) has inaugurated its Basic Japanese Language Course with an orientation programme at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), marking the beginning of the course for 30 participants.

The programme was presided over by Professor Mohammad Sharif Raihan, president of GAU LPDC and director of student welfare at Gazipur Agricultural University.

Professor G. K. M. Mustafizur Rahman, vice-chancellor of Gazipur Agricultural University, attended the event as the chief guest, while Professor Dr Md Shafiul Islam Afrad, treasurer of the university, was present as the special guest.

In his welcome address, Professor Mohammad Sharif Raihan highlighted the importance of language learning in developing students’ global competence and cross-cultural understanding.

Speaking on behalf of GAU LPDC, Vice President Sajjatul Islam Shaun said the Japanese language course would create new opportunities for students. He also outlined the club’s future plans and sought the continued support of the university administration.

Course instructor Professor Dr Md Amzad Hossain spoke about the importance of learning the Japanese language and understanding Japanese culture, encouraging participants to make the most of the programme.

Addressing the participants, Professor Dr Md Shafiul Islam Afrad urged students to pursue language learning with dedication and discipline.

In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Professor G. K. M. Mustafizur Rahman shared his experiences of living in Japan and commended the organisers for introducing the initiative. He assured the university’s continued support for future activities undertaken by GAU LPDC.

The orientation also included a briefing on the course structure and learning plan presented by the instructor.

According to the organisers, the launch of the Basic Japanese Language Course reflects GAU LPDC’s commitment to promoting language education, cultural exchange and personal development among students at Gazipur Agricultural University.
