Five Chittagong University students hired through Nagad career fest
Five graduating students of Chittagong University (CU) received on-the-spot job offers at a day-long career and recruitment event organised by Nagad on Wednesday (22 July).
The digital financial service provider of the Bangladesh Post Office hosted “Nagad Navigate: Shape Your Future” at the university’s BBA Auditorium in collaboration with the MBA Association of the University of Chittagong (MAUC).
Hundreds of students attended the event to explore career opportunities in the fintech sector. Nagad’s recruitment panel conducted CV screenings, candidate assessments and direct interviews for territory officer and territory manager positions, sales roles and its flagship N-Risers internship programme.
A large number of students also submitted their CVs during the programme.
“Getting hired right on campus feels surreal. The seamless process and direct feedback from the HR leaders gave me immense confidence,” said Farhana Alam Nipa, one of the successful candidates.
Another successful candidate, Md Ridoy, said the initiative provided job opportunities and helped students understand what leading corporate employers expected from fresh graduates.
“Through such an initiative, our goal is to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs,” said Syed Himyanuddin Ahmed, Senior Associate Administrator at Nagad.
“Seeing the enthusiasm and potential of Chittagong University students reinforces our belief in nurturing home-grown talent,” he added.
ANM Wazed Ali, Vice-President of the MBA Association of the University of Chittagong, said students outside Dhaka often had limited exposure to corporate employers.
“By bringing on-the-spot interviews, CV screenings and career guidance directly to our campus, Nagad has redefined traditional hiring practices,” he said.
“This collaboration between academia and the fintech sector will not only boost student confidence but also help corporate employers identify top-tier talent early on,” he added.
The event featured knowledge-sharing sessions titled “MFS: The Future of Digital Careers”, “Professionalism That Elevates”, “Resume That Wins” and “Shape the Future: How AI is Transforming Careers”.
Experienced human resources professionals also provided one-to-one career counselling on CV preparation and workplace readiness.
Students participated in a question-and-answer session on artificial intelligence, with prizes awarded to participants. The programme also featured quizzes, foosball and PlayStation 5 gaming activities.
Nagad previously conducted a similar campus recruitment drive at Independent University, Bangladesh, where it directly recruited interns as part of its nationwide youth employment initiative.
