IUBAT signs MoU with Le Méridien Dhaka to strengthen hospitality education
International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and Le Méridien Dhaka have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand practical training and career development opportunities for hospitality students.
The agreement, signed at the hotel, establishes a framework for long-term cooperation between Le Méridien Dhaka and IUBAT’s College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM).
Under the partnership, CTHM students will receive structured internship opportunities, industry training, experiential learning and career development support. The two institutions will also collaborate on research.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom education and professional hospitality practices by exposing students to international industry standards.
Professor Dr Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT; Professor Dr Md Momtazur Rahman, Registrar; and Dr Mohammad Badruddoza Talukder, Chairman of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, attended the signing ceremony alongside faculty members and university officials.
Le Méridien Dhaka was represented by Constantinos S Gavriel, General Manager; Emamul Haque, Director of Human Resources; and other members of the hotel’s senior management team.
Representatives of both institutions emphasised the importance of combining academic knowledge with industry experience to prepare skilled and innovative graduates for the evolving global tourism and hospitality sector.
They expressed optimism that the partnership would create new opportunities for students, strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, and contribute to the advancement of hospitality education in Bangladesh.
IUBAT said the agreement reflected its commitment to industry-oriented education and developing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills and professional competencies required in the hospitality sector.
