A fresh alleged question paper leak case has emerged in India amid ongoing protests over irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), with a university in Uttarakhand cancelling two examinations following an investigation.

Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) in Dehradun has cancelled semester examinations for Machine Learning for Internet of Things and Electromagnetic Field Theory scheduled for the 2025-26 academic session after an inquiry found that an external question paper setter had allegedly shared questions with students before one of the tests.

The cancelled examinations will now be held again in the third week of August, according to the university authorities.

The decision affects students from 12 institutes affiliated with the university.

According to an order issued by UTU Controller of Examinations VK Patel, separate inquiries conducted by the university and the concerned institution found that the external paper setter had allegedly circulated questions identical to those in the examination paper through the institution’s internal portal and WhatsApp before the test.

The university has barred the faculty member involved from all examination-related activities for seven years, while the college where he worked has terminated his employment.

The controversy began after the university received a complaint regarding the Machine Learning for Internet of Things examination.

Shivalik College of Engineering Director TS Sidhu told reporters that the professor had allegedly shared around 50 questions with students through a WhatsApp group, many of which later appeared in the examination paper he prepared. The college has since terminated the assistant professor.

The development comes as protests continue in India over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.

Thousands of students and supporters have been demonstrating in New Delhi, demanding accountability over paper leaks and calling for action against those responsible.
