IUBAT seminar guides students on Erasmus Mundus scholarships
The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organised a seminar in Dhaka on Saturday (25 July) to help students prepare competitive Erasmus Mundus scholarship applications and other international study opportunities.
Titled “Ready to Fly with Erasmus Mundus Scholarships: Unlock Global Opportunities”, the seminar was held at Seminar Hall 227, according to a press release.
Dr Md Ashiqur Rahman, Regional Manager (Asia) for Centralised Support for Erasmus+ National Focal Points under the European Commission and Former President of the Erasmus Mundus Association, served as the keynote speaker.
Dr Rahman drew on his international experience to discuss the Erasmus Mundus scholarship application process and opportunities for Bangladeshi students seeking fully funded postgraduate education in Europe.
Participants received guidance on writing motivation letters and statements of purpose, preparing academic CVs and strengthening their academic profiles through research and extracurricular activities.
The session also covered university selection criteria and other fully funded international scholarships, including Erasmus+.
Dr Rahman said academic excellence alone was insufficient to secure highly competitive international scholarships. He encouraged students to develop leadership qualities, conduct meaningful research, participate in community service and improve their communication and interpersonal skills.
Students from different academic disciplines attended the seminar. During a question-and-answer session, they sought advice on scholarship applications, university selection, career planning and studying abroad.
Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer, IUBAT; Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr Md Zahid Hossain, Controller of Examinations; Professor Dr Md Momtazur Rahman, Registrar; Professor Dr Mozaffar A Chowdhury, Dean, IUBAT Business School; Professor Dr Utpal Kanti Das, Dean, IUBAT School of Computer Science and Engineering; and Professor Dr Sajal Saha, Director, Miyan Research Institute, attended the programme.
Mr Sadekul Islam, Director, International Office; Md Alamin Sikder Shihab, Director, Branding and Public Relations Office; and Dr Hasanuzzaman Tuhar, Director, IUBAT Ranking Unit, were also present, alongside faculty members, university officials and students.
IUBAT officials said the university would continue to prepare students for international academic and professional opportunities through collaborations, career development initiatives, and knowledge-sharing programmes.
