Daffodil International University (DIU) has reached an agreement with Australia’s University of Wollongong (UOW) to introduce 2+2 and 3+1 study pathways, expanding international higher education opportunities for its students.

The agreement was reached during a meeting at UOW’s main campus in Wollongong, Australia, on 28 October, 2026, according to a press release.

Under the arrangement, students enrolled in DIU’s Bachelor of Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in English, and Bachelor of Social Science in Journalism, Media and Communication programmes will have the opportunity to continue their studies in Australia, subject to meeting the required conditions.

Under the 2+2 pathway, students will study at DIU for two years before completing the following two years at UOW. Under the 3+1 pathway, students will complete three years at DIU before spending one year at UOW.

Both pathways will depend on programme approval, credit transfer arrangements, and the admission and academic requirements of the two universities.

Dr Md Sabur Khan, founder and chairman of DIU’s board of trustees and chairman of Daffodil Group, led the delegation. He was accompanied by Abdul Khan Ratan, DIU’s representative for Australia.

UOW was represented by Professor Jiangtao Xi, interim pro vice-chancellor for global engagement; Professor Venkata Yanamandram, deputy dean for growth and global at the Faculty of Arts, Society and Business; Professor Philip Ogunbona, deputy dean for growth and global at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences; and representatives of the Global Partnerships Division.

The pathways are intended to give students academic experience in both Bangladesh and Australia. They are also expected to provide exposure to an international learning environment, help students develop new skills and prepare them for their future careers.

Alongside the study pathways, the universities may explore cooperation in student and faculty exchanges, research, innovation, entrepreneurship development and joint teaching.

Subject to mutual agreement and academic approval, the partnership may also be extended to information technology and engineering programmes in the future.

UOW ranked 195th globally and 13th in Australia in the QS World University Rankings 2027, published in June 2026, placing it among the world’s top 200 universities.
