Daffodil International University (DIU) held its central orientation programme for newly admitted Fall 2026 students at its Daffodil Smart City campus in Ashulia on 8 September, introducing them to the university’s academic and co-curricular activities, facilities, services and opportunities, according to a press release.

Organised by the Office of the Students’ Affairs, the day-long programme introduced the students to the university’s academic and co-curricular activities, facilities, services and opportunities, according to a press release issued for the invited students.

In the morning, members of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), Air Rover Scouts and student volunteers welcomed the newcomers with flowers and commemorative gifts at Swadhinata Shommelon Kendro.

DIU clubs and units, including the Office of International Affairs, Career Development Centre, HRDI, Admission, Skill Jobs, GoEdu and DILC, set up booths to provide information about their activities and services.

The formal session began with recitations from the Quran and Bhagavad Gita, followed by the national anthem and DIU’s theme song.

A documentary on the university was screened, while deans of different faculties delivered welcome messages to the students.

Advisor to the Office of the Students’ Affairs, Professor Dr ABM Kamal Pasha, delivered the welcome address.

DIU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr MR Kabir delivered a special address to the newly admitted students, while Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr Md Sabur Khan welcomed them through a video message.

National cricketer and former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahim attended the programme as the chief guest.

He shared experiences from his career and encouraged the students to pursue their goals with determination and confidence.

Crests were later presented to the special and distinguished guests.

The programme also featured an alumni experience-sharing session.

The speakers were SSLCommerz Key Account Manager and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) alumna Priya Rani Dey; ACI Motors Limited Assistant Manager and Journalism, Media and Communication (JMC) alumnus Md Farhad Hossain; Miyaki Media Limited Assistant Manager and Business Administration (BA) alumnus Md Sazzadur Rahman Shawon; and Sunpower Technology Founder and CEO and Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) alumnus Engineer Md Rezaul Karim.

They shared their educational journeys, professional experiences and career-development insights with the new students.

During the “Meet the Achievers” segment, students who had attained notable success in different fields were honoured.

Winners of the university’s sports competitions also received prizes, presented by Professor Dr ABM Kamal Pasha.

Following the formal session, the newly admitted students participated in a photo session in front of the Knowledge Tower at Daffodil Smart City.

In the afternoon, a cultural programme featuring dance and other performances was held at Swadhinata Shommelon Kendro.

The university authorities said they hoped the orientation would help the new students adjust to the university environment and progress towards their academic and career goals.
