BUBT Research Graduate School organised a lecture titled “The Next Computing Era: What Should We Build for 2035?” as part of the Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series at the BUBT International Conference Hall on Monday, 14 September 2026.

IBM Software Principal Platform Architect Mansura Habiba, based in Dublin, Ireland, delivered the keynote lecture on the technologies, opportunities and challenges that could shape computing by 2035, according to a press release.

She discussed the changing computing landscape, emerging technological trends and the challenges of building systems for the next decade. Drawing on her experience in the global technology industry, she highlighted the importance of innovation, adaptability and research in preparing for the next era of computing.

BUBT Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Shawkat Ali attended as the chief guest, while BUBT Research Graduate School Acting Dean Professor Dr Md Ahsan Habib chaired the session.

IBM Software Engineer Rafflesia Khan also attended and delivered a short speech.

In his remarks, Professor Dr ABM Shawkat Ali welcomed the initiative, saying such sessions contributed to the professional and intellectual development of the university’s academic community.

He stressed the need for research, innovation and practical knowledge to address future technological challenges. He also encouraged faculty members, researchers and students to look beyond existing technologies and develop solutions that could contribute to the future of computing.

Faculty members, researchers, students and technology enthusiasts attended the lecture.

The session provided an opportunity to explore future directions in computing and discuss the technological possibilities and challenges that could emerge by 2035.
