The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) showcased projects on sustainability, artificial intelligence, accessibility and social impact at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026, held at Novo Theatre in Dhaka from 12 to 14 September.

The Ministry of Science and Technology organised the three-day fair under the theme “Innovation Ecosystem Toward Trillion Dollar Economy”, according to a press release.

The event brought together innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, investors, policymakers and universities to promote collaboration and translate innovation into commercial applications and economic activity.

ULAB’s exhibits included Farmers’ Market Preservation, Plastic Bottle Recycling Vending Machine and ParkShare Bangladesh.

The Department of EEE showcased a Reconfigurable BMS for Second-Life Batteries, while the CSE Department presented five projects: IoT-Enabled Gait Impairment Classification, BioCal RA, Real-Time AI-Powered Bidirectional Sign Language Translator, OceanSense and RAG-BChain.

The university said the projects attracted interest for their focus on sustainability, smart solutions, artificial intelligence, accessibility and social impact.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.

ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, attended the inaugural session and visited the university’s exhibition booth, where he viewed the projects and spoke with the participating team.

He welcomed the initiative and emphasised the importance of connecting university research and innovation with practical applications and societal needs.

ICT Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam MP and Rehan A Asad, adviser to the prime minister and state minister for ICT, telecommunications, science and technology, also visited ULAB’s booth and explored the projects. Other guests visited the exhibition during the fair.

The event featured more than 1,000 innovations, over 50 universities, 100 industry experts and 50 corporate organisations, providing a national platform for innovation and collaboration.
