At its Annual Research and Publication Award Ceremony 2026, Uttara University recognised 82 faculty members and staff for their research and publication achievements.

Organised by the Centre for Research and Training (CRT), the ceremony was held at the university’s Multipurpose Hall on 14 September 2026.

The recipients were recognised for research indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus in 2025, and they received research and publication grants along with certificates acknowledging their scholarly contributions.

Uttara University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha attended as the chief guest. In contrast, Icddr,b Senior Scientist Dr Firdausi Qadri attended as the special guest, and the organisation’s HR Advisor Dr Md Musharrof Hossain was the guest of honour.

CRT Director Professor Dr Md Sultanul Islam chaired the programme, and Uttara University Treasurer Professor Haspia Bashirullah, CRT Associate Director Dr Saleh Ahmad and other executive members of the centre were also present.

Around 300 full-time faculty members attended the ceremony, underscoring the university’s efforts to strengthen research, innovation and scholarly publication.

Three researchers received special awards for their research and publication performance in 2025.

Nur Ahammad received the Best High-Impact Publication Award, Dr Md Shafiul Alam Chowdhury received the Most Published Paper Award, and Md Hanif Munshi received the Best Early Career Researcher Award.

Presenting the university’s research trends and achievements, Dr Saleh Ahmad highlighted growth in its research and publication activities.

He said the number of Scopus-indexed publications had increased substantially from previous years, reflecting a greater emphasis on research productivity and impact.

Dr Firdausi Qadri encouraged more women researchers to undertake meaningful research addressing Bangladesh’s needs, particularly in public health and life sciences.

She also emphasised collaboration with leading universities and organisations worldwide to advance such research.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha said the university had strengthened national and international research collaboration through academic, research and international partnership agreements.

She said Uttara University continued to support researchers through research projects, conference participation and publication assistance.

The university plans to expand its research, innovation and publication initiatives through significantly increased investment, international collaboration and capacity-building activities, she added.

Professor Dr Md Sultanul Islam reaffirmed the university’s commitment to developing a research-oriented academic environment and encouraging faculty members, researchers and students to pursue high-quality, impactful research.

He said these efforts would also support the university’s progress in world university rankings, and he concluded by thanking stakeholders for their support and cooperation in organising the ceremony.
