The Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust will provide one-time medical grants to poor and meritorious students from Class VI to undergraduate and equivalent levels who suffer serious injuries in accidents.

Eligible students can apply online for the September-October 2026 quarter through the Trust’s e-Medical Grant Management System until 11:59 pm on October 31, according to a press release issued today.

The grants will be provided under the Guidelines for Providing One-time Financial Grants to Poor and Meritorious Students Seriously Injured in Accidents, 2020.

The student’s hospital treatment for accident-related serious injuries must have taken place during the fiscal year in which the notice was issued or the preceding fiscal year. A student can receive the grant only once.

To be eligible, students must have secured at least 60 percent marks in their previous class. Applicants must also provide documentary evidence of a minimum GPA of 3.50 at the SSC and HSC or equivalent levels, and a minimum GPA of 3.00 at the undergraduate and equivalent levels.

As proof of financial hardship, children of employees in grades 13 to 20 under the National Pay Scale 2015 must submit a certificate from the head of their parent or guardian’s office confirming the relevant pay grade.

Other applicants must submit a certificate from the head of their educational institution stating that their father, mother or guardian is poor. The applicant’s family must have an annual income of less than Tk 200,000.

To prove the seriousness of the injury, applicants must upload a medical certificate issued by a Civil Surgeon, a doctor of a government hospital or an Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, confirming that the student sustained serious injuries in an accident.

Applicants must also upload clear copies of all required documents, including the prescribed certificate from the educational institution or department, birth registration certificate, NIDs of the father and mother, the student’s photograph and signature, and bank account information.

Applications without the required documents will not be accepted. The entire application process will be completed online, and applicants do not need to submit any hard copies.

For receiving the grant, the student or the student’s father or mother must provide the complete number of an active bank account in their own name, along with a valid mobile phone number. A copy of the inside page of a cheque or a bank statement must also be uploaded.

Bank accounts belonging to anyone other than the student or the student’s parents will not be accepted. However, if both parents are deceased or for another valid reason the student is wholly dependent on a guardian, the guardian’s bank account may be accepted.

The Trust warned that if incorrect or inactive bank account information results in a failure to transfer the grant, the money will not be transferred again.

If an educational institution’s name is not available in the online application system, the head of the institution or department must apply to the Managing Director of the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust on the institution’s official letterhead, mentioning its EIIN and other relevant information. The application may be sent by post or email.

The release, signed by Md. Farid Ahmed, Assistant Director (Additional Charge) of the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust, asked all concerned educational institutions to inform eligible students about the grant and instructed relevant officials, including Upazila Secondary Education and Thana Education Office officials, to take necessary measures.
