The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Stamford University Bangladesh inaugurated its Faculty Development (Foundation) Training Programme for 27 newly recruited faculty members under Batch FT-N9 on 22 September at the university auditorium in Siddeswari, Dhaka.

Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) Chairman Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain Khan attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. According to the press release, BAC Member Professor Dr Ahmed Abdullah Jamal and Stamford University Bangladesh Treasurer Professor Dr Mohammad Jeaul Hasan attended as special guests.

Stamford University Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Sharif Nafe As-Saber presided over the session.

The programme brought together senior university officials, deans, department heads, faculty members, IQAC representatives and 27 newly recruited faculty members from different academic departments.

In his keynote address, Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain Khan emphasised the importance of pedagogical competence, continuous professional development and quality assurance in advancing higher education.

He urged the newly recruited faculty members to embrace quality assurance as an integral part of academic practice, emphasising learner-centred teaching and curriculum alignment with the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF).

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Sharif Nafe As-Saber welcomed the new faculty members and emphasised that university teaching extends beyond classroom instruction to include academic integrity, research, student mentorship and institutional collaboration.

He encouraged the participants to familiarise themselves with the university’s academic policies and contribute actively to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.

IQAC Director M Azizul Haque outlined the objectives and structure of the foundation training programme, covering academic policies, teaching-learning methodologies, assessment and evaluation, research ethics and quality enhancement practices in line with University Grants Commission (UGC) and BAC standards.

The six-day training programme will feature interactive sessions, workshops and practicum activities to strengthen faculty capacity and promote sustained academic quality at Stamford University Bangladesh.
