Football Leaks founder Rui Pinto has accused FIFA president Gianni Infantino of interfering in UEFA’s handling of financial fair play cases involving Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in 2014.

Pinto alleged that Infantino, then UEFA general secretary, shared confidential information and helped the clubs avoid tougher sanctions that could have included Champions League bans. Infantino has previously denied wrongdoing, saying such discussions were part of his role at UEFA.

Pinto renewed the allegations after Manchester City were found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules over a nine-year period, though the club denies wrongdoing and can appeal.

He said Infantino “should have no place in the future of the game”, while also accusing the FIFA president of damaging football’s governance.

Infantino is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president in March 2027. His position has come under increased scrutiny, with the Swiss Football Association recently withdrawing its support for his candidacy, citing concerns over leadership, governance, transparency and decision-making.
