JU plans integrated academic calendar to reduce session jams
Jahangirnagar University (JU) administration has taken an initiative to introduce an integrated academic calendar to reduce session jams and help students complete their studies within the stipulated timeframe.
A consensus on developing the calendar was reached at a meeting involving the university administration, deans, institute directors and department chairmen on 27 October 2026, according to a press release.
The proposed calendar will be finalised through a collaborative review process involving the vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor, deans and institute directors. It will provide a unified framework for academic programmes across all faculties, covering class schedules, examinations and other major academic activities.
“We are striving to ensure that students no longer have to wait months for their results,” said JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam.
The integrated calendar is expected to take effect from the upcoming 56th batch. The administration also plans to account for differences among older batches, including variations in academic years and semester systems.
The initiative aims to strengthen academic discipline, streamline university operations and minimise delays in the completion of students’ degrees.
