The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Dhaka University (DU) teams outshone renowned universities around the globe including Cambridge and Indian Institutes of Technology at the 46th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals.
Amid fierce competition, BUET’s team “BUET Potatoes” emerged as the Asia West champions, securing an impressive 28th position globally by solving six out of 10 coding problems.
Meanwhile, DU demonstrated its competence with a commendable performance, securing the 35th position globally. The participation of both BUET and DU underscored Bangladesh’s growing prominence in the field of competitive programming.
More than 50,000 students from over 3,000 universities in 111 countries across the globe participated in the competition.
Alongside BUET and DU, teams from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), BRAC University (BRACU), and other renowned institutions vied for glory. RUET secured the 91st position globally at the 46th finals, while BRACU stood at 75th in the subsequent edition.
Noteworthy achievements from other countries included the stellar performance of the University of Michigan (USA), Oxford University (UK), and the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras (IIT-Madras), securing the 2nd, 4th, and 63rd positions respectively.
The 46th ICPC World Finals not only celebrated the triumphs of BUET and DU but also highlighted the collective talent and dedication of students from diverse academic backgrounds, reaffirming the spirit of innovation and collaboration that defines the essence of ICPC.
