Daffodil International University (DIU) has secured the top position among private and public universities in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2024.
DIU stood in the 301-400 bracket of the rankings. BRAC University was placed in the 401-600 bracket, ranking second in Bangladesh.
United International University (UIU) placed third on the list.
These three universities were followed by International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and Rajshahi University of Science and Technology (RUET), jointly ranking fourth under the 601-800 bracket.
Among the public universities Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Jashore University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and a few others made the list.
The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking lists universities that excel across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To calculate the score, 22% weight was given to “Partnership on SDG-17” and “Top three scores from other SDGs” had the rest of 78%, each weighing 26%.
Based on the scores, Times Higher Education listed the universities that excelled in a variety of SDGs, showcasing their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships.
Times Higher Education evaluated 2,152 universities from 125 countries/regions to produce the overall Impact Ranking for 2024. Australia’s Western Sydney University topped the list for the third consecutive year. The UK’s University of Manchester and Australia’s University of Tasmania followed in second place jointly.
