The teams were selected by the organisers of the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BdAIO), an initiative of the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), after evaluating participants through multiple competitive and assessment stages.

The eight-member Bangladesh team will compete in the Asia-Pacific AI Olympiad on 13 June 2026, joining the contest online from a designated venue in Dhaka. Meanwhile, a four-member team will represent the country at the International AI Olympiad, scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan in August 2026.

The Bangladesh team for APOAI includes Labib Shahriar of Homna Adarsha High School; Tridib Roy Arya and Mobtasim Chowdhury Priom from Notre Dame College, Dhaka; Saidu Zzaman Araf of Moulvibazar Government College; Nawfel Rahman of Darus Salam Government Secondary School; Murtaza Abdullah of National Ideal School; Anannya Zarif Akand of Munnu International School and College; and Md Riasat Islam of RAJUK Uttara Model College.

The four-member team selected for IOAI comprises Labib Shahriar, Mobtasim Chowdhury Priom, Saidu Zzaman Araf, and Anannya Zarif Akand.

The Bangladesh delegation will be led by Professor Dr BM Moinul Hossain, Director of the Institute of Information Technology at the University of Dhaka Institute of Information Technology, who will serve as team leader.

Registration for the 3rd Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad began on 25 March 2026, with students from across the country participating in AI Quiz and AI Challenge categories. This year, offline regional rounds were held in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Saidpur for the first time, alongside online e-Olympiad rounds for students from other regions including Khulna and Rajshahi.

The national round took place in Dhaka on 16 May, after which the top 30 performers from the AI Challenge category were invited to the national selection camp held from 20 to 23 May. Participants at the camp were assessed through machine learning contests, viva examinations, Python notebook evaluations, and selection tests, based on which the final teams were formed.

The AI Olympiad is organised annually under the overall management of BdOSN, with the aim of developing advanced skills in artificial intelligence and machine learning among young students in Bangladesh.

For the 2026 edition, the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) is serving as the platinum sponsor and host of the national round. Several academic institutions, media organisations, and technology firms are supporting the initiative as partners.
