Senior students of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (AERS) at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) hosted a reception for students of the 62nd batch on 12 September, continuing a faculty tradition aimed at strengthening bonds between senior and junior students.

Titled ‘Brittayon 61 × Prosphuron 62: The Connection Chronicles’, the event was held at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall on the BAU campus and attended by around 200 students, with 100 from each batch.

A highlight of the programme was an introduction session involving students with matching ID numbers from the two batches. Senior and junior students with the same ID numbers took the stage together, exchanged greetings and introduced themselves before the seniors presented gifts to their respective juniors.

The event also featured solo and group performances by students from both batches, including songs and dances. A stand-up comedy show and a ‘cringe reels’ remake added an entertainment segment to the programme.

GM Shakil, a student of the 61st batch, said the reception was part of a longstanding tradition in the faculty.

“Our seniors organised a similar reception for us and now we are continuing that tradition by welcoming our juniors. This tradition exists only in our faculty at the university,” he said.

He said the event was organised primarily to help students from the two batches become familiar with each other and develop stronger bonds.

Ashik, a student of the 62nd batch, said the arrangements made by the seniors left a strong impression on the juniors.

“The seniors arranged everything for us, and our role here was much like that of guests. Through this event, we got the opportunity to know our seniors better. I hope we can build an even stronger relationship with them,” he said.
