BAU awards internship certificates to 108 fisheries students, honours four with Dean’s Merit Awards
Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has awarded internship certificates to 108 students of the Faculty of Fisheries from the 2020-21 academic session, while four students received Dean’s Merit Awards for their academic performance.
The certificates and awards were handed over at the closing ceremony of the internship programme at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall on 15 September.
The internship programme was designed to provide students with practical exposure to fisheries-related work beyond classroom-based theoretical learning.
Professor Dr Md Ali Reza Faruk, dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, chaired the programme, while BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Sarder attended as chief guest.
The Dean’s Merit Award recipients were Md Golam Saklayen Anas, Umme Habiba Faria, Amatul Kibria Tamanna and Tayeba Tabassum Tisha.
Addressing the event, Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Sarder congratulated the students on completing their undergraduate studies and recognised the four award recipients for their academic performance.
He said internships provide students with an opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practical experience. He also noted that Bangladesh offers opportunities for learning, research and professional development in the fisheries sector.
