BRAC University has appointed three new members to its Board of Trustees, bringing expertise in higher education, academic leadership, financial governance and institutional development as the university enters its next phase of growth.

The new trustees are Dr Claire Gordon, Director of the Eden Centre for Education Enhancement at the London School of Economics and Political Science; Masud Khan, FCA (India), FCMA (India) and CMA (Australia), Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission and former chairman of Unilever Consumer Care Ltd; and Professor Imran Rahman, former vice-chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.

The appointments were approved in accordance with BRAC University’s governance process and reflect its commitment to drawing on national and international expertise to support institutional development, the university said in a press release.

“At this important moment in BRAC University’s journey, we are pleased to welcome three highly accomplished individuals to the Board of Trustees,” said Tamara Hasan Abed, Chairperson of the BRAC University Board of Trustees.

“Their experience in global higher education, university leadership, financial governance and institutional development will bring valuable perspectives as BRAC University continues to strengthen teaching and learning, the student experience and research for impact,” she added.

Dr Claire Gordon has extensive experience in educational development, curriculum enhancement, academic promotion and career development, digital innovation and inclusive practices in higher education.

At the London School of Economics and Political Science, she leads initiatives on teaching and learning innovation and the institution’s approach to generative artificial intelligence in education, while fostering international academic collaboration.

Her appointment is expected to bring a global perspective to BRAC University’s efforts to strengthen its curriculum, pedagogy and educational quality.

Masud Khan has decades of experience in financial management, corporate governance, capital markets, audit oversight and board leadership across multinational and national institutions.

His expertise is expected to support the Board’s fiduciary responsibilities and contribute to the university’s long-term financial sustainability, governance resilience and institutional accountability.

Professor Imran Rahman brings extensive experience in university leadership, business education, academic governance and institutional development.

A former vice-chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and a long-serving academic leader, he has played an important role in advancing higher education practices in Bangladesh.

His experience is expected to support BRAC University’s continued focus on student-centered education, academic quality and institutional excellence.

The university said the appointments came at a significant point in its development as it continued to build on its founding commitment to academic excellence, social impact and inclusive development.

The new trustees are expected to strengthen the Board’s role in guiding BRAC University’s strategic priorities and long-term institutional growth.
