Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) welcomed newly admitted Fall 2026 students at a freshers’ reception on Thursday at the university’s Sports Complex.

The programme formally welcomed the students and introduced them to university life and academics.

BUBT Trust Member Md Shamsul Huda, FCA, attended as chief guest, while BUBT Trust Vice Chairman and BUBT Advisor Professor Md Abu Saleh attended as special guest. BUBT Vice Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Shawkat Ali chaired the programme.

Registrar Dr Md Harun-Or-Rashid delivered the welcome speech. The proctor and deans of the BUBT Research Graduate School and the faculties of CS & AI; Sciences & Engineering; Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences; Law; and Business & Economics also addressed the students.

The programme featured a quiz for newcomers and speeches by a current student, a newly admitted student and a BUBT alumnus.

In his address, Md Shamsul Huda encouraged the newcomers to remain focused on their studies and become responsible members of society.

“Your time at the university should be used to acquire knowledge, develop skills and build the values needed for your future,” he said.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Shawkat Ali welcomed the students and encouraged them to participate actively in academic and extracurricular activities.

“I welcome all of you to BUBT and hope that you will make the most of your university life through learning, discipline, creativity and active participation,” he said.

The first session concluded with the vice-chancellor’s address, followed by a prayer and lunch break.

The second session featured cultural performances by the BUBT Cultural Club. The reception concluded with a musical performance by Lalon Band, giving new students a chance to enjoy cultural activities as they began their university journey.
