BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (Buft) hosted the opening ceremony of “Interwoven Civilizations” – the 12th Belt and Road International Cultural and Art Week (Dhaka) today (22 September), bringing together representatives from Bangladesh and China to celebrate cultural heritage and strengthen educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The ceremony opened with a display showcasing the rich heritage of traditional Bangladeshi textiles and clothing, highlighting the country’s longstanding craftsmanship and distinctive cultural identity, according to the press release.

Buft Board of Trustees Member and Sagar Garments Limited Managing Director Md Nurul Haque attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

BGMEA Standing Committee on BUFT Affairs Chairman Mesbah Uddin Ali attended as a special guest on behalf of the BGMEA president.

Shanto Mariam Honghe Confucius Classroom Director Mohiuddin Taher was also present as a special guest.

Buft Vice-Chancellor (Designate) Professor Dr Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan delivered the welcome address.

The programme was also addressed by Chengdu Qinggong Polytechnic University Vice-President Pu Bingyuan and Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh Textile and Garment Branch President Ge Zhenyu.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a cooperation agreement with Leizu College (Bangladesh).

The agreement is expected to further expand opportunities for educational and cultural collaboration between Bangladesh and China.

Buft Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer Professor Md Alamgir Hossain delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the ceremony.
