BUP students engage with media stars at inaugural ‘Unscripted 1.0’
The Media and Communication Club (MCC) of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) hosted its inaugural panel discussion event, Unscripted 1.0, on 10 June 2026 at the Shadhinota Auditorium, BUP.
The event began at 11:00am and concluded at around 1:45pm, bringing together four prominent figures from Bangladesh’s media and entertainment industry for an open and candid conversation on creativity, resilience and the realities of life in the public eye.
Conceived around a single driving question — “What goes on in a creator’s mind?” — Unscripted 1.0 was designed as a space for honest and unfiltered dialogue.
The discussion moved beyond polished success narratives to explore the creative process, the weight of influence and the responsibilities that come with a public platform.
The concept of the event was articulated by MCC General Secretary Shanzin Saima Sharita in her opening address.
MCC President Nigar Israt and MCC Faculty Moderator Lecturer Israt Jahan Oishe also delivered remarks.
The event was hosted by Saima Fardaus Kotha and Saira Nur and moderated by Mustak Shahriar Shuvo and Tanjima Nusrat Chowdhury.
The chief guest, Lieutenant Colonel Mahmud Hasan Tariq, PPM, PPMS, PSC, Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at BUP, formally welcomed the panellists and credited the realisation of the event to the initiative of the MCC family.
Panellists
The four panellists represented a broad cross-section of Bangladesh’s media industry.
They were Ahmed Reza, journalist and news presenter at Jamuna TV; Mehedi Hasan Apurbo, travel content creator and host of the Apurbo Show; Sabila Nur, actress, model and television personality; and Dipty Chowdhury, broadcaster and media personality at Channel I.
Panel highlights
The discussion covered the viability of entering the media industry under present conditions, navigating online criticism, audience responsibility and the gap between on-camera and off-camera identities.
A game segment midway through the session added a lighter tone before the conversation resumed in earnest.
Dipty Chowdhury offered a vivid perspective on navigating life’s unpredictability, noting that fortune may open doors but also tests those it favours.
She said how a person handles that test determines whether the momentum continues or stops.
Mehedi Hasan Apurbo spoke directly to aspiring creators, observing that staying true to oneself in the current media environment is simultaneously the greatest challenge and the greatest achievement.
He encouraged younger audiences not to fear early failure, noting that making mistakes over the next few years before graduation is part of finding answers.
On the question of destination, he was direct: “I am just trying to enjoy the process.”
He also cited Cristiano Ronaldo’s philosophy of detaching performance from emotion as a personal guiding principle.
Ahmed Reza underscored the necessity of resilience for anyone engaged in public-facing work.
He also emphasised the importance of understanding oneself, identifying personal interests and recognising one’s strengths.
Drawing from his own experience, he said he realised that he could speak well and worked to develop and maintain that ability, mostly through debating.
Sabila Nur encouraged the audience to recognise that taking a leap of faith remains a valid and necessary act.
She also said, “Life may throw some hints to you multiple times, but it is to see what you will initially catch.”
Closing ceremony
The event concluded with Lieutenant Colonel Mahmud Hasan Tariq presenting tokens of appreciation and crests to each panellist, followed by a group photo session.
Unscripted 1.0 marks MCC’s first major panel event of this format, with the series set to continue in future editions.
