Bangladesh team BYSIS Bengal Spark 2.0 has won the Grand Award for the best innovative project at the global round of the Borneo International Innovation and Creativity Competition 2026 in Sabah, Malaysia.

The team was led by the Bangladesh Young Scientists and Innovators Society.

The competition, organised by the Malaysia Young Scientist Organization and hosted at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, featured 2,700 innovative projects and ideas submitted by young participants from 20 countries.

Bangladesh was represented by eight teams from BYSIS Bengal Spark 2.0, selected through the national round.

Among them, team Delta Cognition won the Grand Award with its project “Agrobot”.

The project also won the gold medal in the artificial intelligence and robotics category.

The winning team members are Md Akhteruzzaman Fahad, Imtiaz Hossain Akib, Taki Tahmid Sami and Iftekhar Al Amin.

The award ceremony was held at the Sabah International Convention Centre on 21 June, where the Bangladesh team received the championship trophy, gold medals, cash prizes and certificates.

Professor Dr Rosalam Sarbatly, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Universiti Malaysia Sabah; Dr Razmi Bin Abdul Razak, President of the Malaysia Young Scientist Organization; Associate Professor Dr Sian Sung; and Mosaddek Hossain, President of Bangladesh Young Scientists and Innovators Society, attended the event.

Speakers at the event praised the talent and potential of Bangladeshi youth in global innovation platforms.
