BD team in Malaysia

A Bangladeshi team has won the Grand Award at the Borneo International Innovation and Creativity Competition (BIICC) 2026, held in Sabah, Malaysia.

The winning team, Delta Cognition, represented Bangladesh through the Bangladesh Young Scientists and Innovators Society (BYSIS) under its BYSIS Bengal Spark 2.0 initiative. The competition, organised by the Malaysia Young Scientist Organization (MYSO) and hosted at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, featured around 2,700 innovation projects submitted by participants from 20 countries.

Delta Cognition won the Gold Medal in the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics category for its project, “Agrobot”, before being named the overall winner of the competition.

The team comprised Md. Akhteruzzaman Fahad, Imtiaz Hossain Akib, Taki Tahmid Sami and Iftekhar Al Amin.

Bangladesh was represented by eight teams selected through the national round of the BYSIS Bengal Spark 2.0 programme. Among them, Delta Cognition secured the country’s highest honour at the international event.

The awards were presented during a ceremony held on 21 June at the Sabah International Convention Centre, where the team received the championship trophy, gold medals, certificates and cash prizes.

The event was attended by Professor Dr. Rosalam Sarbatly, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Universiti Malaysia Sabah; Dr. Razmi Bin Abdul Razak, president of the Malaysia Young Scientist Organization; Associate Professor Dr. Sian Sung; and Mosaddek Hossain, president of the Bangladesh Young Scientists and Innovators Society.
