Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) hosts campus screening of international short films
Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) Language and Personal Development Club hosted a campus screening as part of the 17th International Inter-University Short Film Festival, bringing films from around the world to its campus.
The screening featured 18 short films selected from a shortlist of 200, which were narrowed down from 1,263 submissions by young filmmakers from 92 countries.
GAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr GKM Mostafizur Rahman attended the event as chief guest. He commended the efforts of the GAU Literature, Photography and Debate Club (LPDC) in organising the screening and congratulated the university community on its recent national recognition at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026.
Faculty members and other guests also addressed the audience, highlighting the festival as an opportunity for students to experience different cultures and gain exposure to diverse creative perspectives.
The festival will present awards including the Zahir Raihan Best Short Award and the Tareq Masud Best Emerging Director Award to recognise outstanding storytelling and emerging directorial talent.
The festival is organised by the Dhaka University Film Society, with support from the Norwegian Embassy and UNDP. Following the GAU screening, the main three-day festival is scheduled to be held at Dhaka University’s TSC from 21 to 23 September.
