BloodBridge, a technology-driven blood donation platform founded by K M Ferdous Hasan Foysal, a student of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has secured Tk80,000 in seed funding through the National Innovation Challenge under the University Innovation Hub Program (UIHP).

UIHP is an incubation initiative of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and the ICT Division, financed by the World Bank. It supports university-based innovations through mentorship, prototype development, business modelling and commercialisation.

The latest funding follows BloodBridge’s earlier participation in the programme. In March 2025, the initiative received Tk40,000 in pre-seed funding after completing a 15-week hybrid mentorship programme at United International University. During the programme, the team invested more than 160 hours in venture development and received mentorship from Mohammad Fayadan Hossain, co-founder and chief operating officer of Hishab Technologies Limited, on business strategy, prototype development and venture building.

Since its formal launch on 9 August 2024, BloodBridge has built a database of more than 5,000 registered blood donors in Dhaka and facilitated over 500 successful donations, according to the organisation.

The platform aims to improve blood donation coordination by connecting patients with potential donors through digital services. Its mobile application, available on the Google Play Store, brings together blood requests, donor information, notifications and emergency coordination.

BloodBridge has also received exposure through Bongo OTT, helping the student-led initiative present its work to a wider audience.

The latest seed funding is expected to support the platform’s technological and organisational development as it seeks to expand its blood donation coordination services.
