IUB takes 587 students to Liberation War Museum for experiential learning
The Department of Media and Communication at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) took 587 students to the Bangladesh Liberation War Museum on 15 October as part of a mandatory experiential learning component of their course.
The field trip involved students from 15 sections of the course BDS 109: Bangladesh 1971 Through the Lenses.
During the visit, students examined historical artefacts, photographs, exhibits and narratives documenting the Liberation War. They were tasked with preparing group reports focusing on specific galleries, historical events, themes, artefacts, or representations of freedom fighters, civilians, women and international actors during the war.
The assignment required students to apply historical knowledge and communication concepts covered in the course to analyse how museum exhibits, artefacts, narratives and visual representations shape public understanding of the Liberation War and Bangladesh’s national identity. They were also expected to apply research and reporting skills to the materials examined during the visit.
The field trip was coordinated by Momtaz Parvin, course coordinator of BDS 109, with support from faculty members Dilshad Hossain Dodul, Mushfeqa Islam, Murad Ibne Mizan, Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Sajjadur Rahman and Azraf Al Mutee.
